Villa Familia Facilities

Villa Familia is a three-story Mediterranean style villa situated on the Matapalo shoreline overlooking Backwash Bay.  It is a family vacation home that is visited seasonally by the owners and available for short and mid-term vacation rentals the remainder of the year.

Situated on one quarter hectare of land on the edges of the beautiful Golfo Dulce, Villa Familia looks out over Backwash Bay, one of three local surf breaks that have been sought by the international surfing community ever since Cape Matapalo appeared on the surfer's radar screen back in the late seventies and early eighties.

Villa Familia has three bedrooms and three bathrooms.  The first floor bedroom contains two sets of twin bunkbeds and an adjoining bathroom.  There are two bedrooms on the second floor, each with a private bathroom and a queen size bed.  So, in beds, the sleeping occupancy is eight.  However, there are verandas that wrap around the home and a third floor party deck where foamies can be deployed for sleeping expansion for several more people.

The first floor contains a large combined living room, dining area, and kitchen.  The six burner stove is propane, and the refrigeration is also propane powered.  Furnishings include built in concrete couches with cushions, dining room table and chairs, cabinetry, and outdoor table with lounging chairs and sofa.

The third floor contains a roofed bar with a sink and a large party terrace with a sprawling view of the gardens, gulf, and the forest in back.   

A groomed lawn sweeps from the back of the home to the edge of the shoreline where a table with chairs is provided as well as a hammock for lounging seaside. 

The home is equipped with 110V power provided from a solar power system.  However, the power supply is intended for the basics, lights and fans, and hair dryers and other energy consumptive appliances are expressly forbidden as they will run the power down.  The home is not presently outfitted with broadband wireless internet, but for an additional fee of $25 per day, we can provide an Internet data card that will allow you to connect to the Internet with a laptop that you bring with you.

The home boasts a full set of cookware, dishes, and linens.

Beyond the watchman--who can provide some guiding and support services--our Puerto jimenez management company, Osa Corcovado Tour and Travel is a full service tour and travel agency and can coordinate tours, transport, rental cars, sport fishing, permits for Corcovado National Park, domestic air ticketing and charter flights, other vacation rentals around the peninsula, and a wide variety of additional services.
